What pure gold have you been sitting on? Do you not know that God already has a group of people already set aside for what only you can bring?
“When I get more followers, I’ll start the page.”
“It’s not ready because I don’t have all of it together.”
“People are not going to buy/support me if my page/website is not aesthetically pleasing.”
“What if it doesn’t work?”
Do any of those statements sound familiar? I will admit that I have told myself those same statements one time too many all while sitting on pure gold. When I say “pure gold” I’m not talking about perfection or being the best. I’m talking about having a skillset, an answer or a solution to something someone needed but holding back because I felt like it wasn’t “just right” or enough.
Now, I can’t say that I have mastered overcoming those thoughts BUT, I am a little quicker to just do it — especially when I KNOW God called me to it. And that’s the key, whatever skills, gifts or talents God has given you, it is already enough. All of the other stuff is just a little razzle-dazzle to draw the people in.
I can recall when I was in college and I was in a relationship that I needed to leave ASAP. (check out In God’s Perfect Timing for more!) God had already revealed that if I stayed, it was going to be detrimental to the call on my life. I wanted to leave, I wanted to get out and I wanted to start over! But, whenever I would try to leave, immense fear and anxiety would cripple me to the point of having panic attacks. I knew it was the enemy and that this battle wasn’t going to be won in the natural. So, I went up for prayer for the LAST time about this relationship at church. My dear friend prayed for me and spoke a word that I knew could only come from God’s mouth to her ears. And she said something very pivotal, “there are tsunamis and storms happening in the spirit for the people you were called to. They are waiting for you but you can’t go with this.” In other words, people are waiting and in need of your obedience but your sin is holding them back.
You may ask “why do I have to be responsible for someone else’s breakthrough. Why can’t I just live my life the way I want to.” Well, the truth is, you don’t have to be responsible. You can choose to go your own way because God is not forceful. He has a purpose that needs to be completed in the earth and He will use whoever is willing. If you’re not willing, you can kindly step to the side and do you. But, I will say, you are missing out on some great things!! However, if you made/make the decision to follow Him, He is going to use you to assist in His purpose being completed and that comes with a call to obedience and great surrender. Being sold out for Christ comes with its challenges because you are literally going against what your flesh naturally wants to do. However, the reward and benefits far outweigh the challenges and it’s time to make a decision and stick to it.
So what pure gold have you been sitting on? Do you not know that God already has a group of people already set aside for what only you can bring? But they can’t come if you don’t make the move. Just picture this, you are standing in line outside of your favorite store waiting for the grand opening. You see that they have some empty spaces that can be filled with furniture and products, however, there’s one shelf that has every product you have been waiting to have. BUT, the owner informs the crowd outside that the store is not “complete” because the store is not fully furnished and therefore, won’t be opening. Now in your mind, you see what you need and you’re like “I don’t care about the fancy decorations, I have been looking for that right there and I can’t find it anywhere. Please just let me pay for what you DO have.”
Do you see how that works? Oftentimes, people see the gem (you/your gift) and that’s enough for them. They want what’s ready now instead of waiting for the TBD date of your perfection. Are you going to forgo meeting the need because everything is not perfect to YOU? It’s okay to start with what you have now. It’s okay for people to see how you started and testify to your hard work to get to where you intend to be. It’s OKAY to trust that God will bless what you have now and increase it as you go along. The Bible says that when we are faithful with little, we will be entrusted with more. So, how do you know you haven’t gotten the “more” because you haven’t been faithful with your “little” by just starting?
I want you to win sis. I want you to be ALL that God has called you to be. I want you to experience heaven on earth. I want you to reap the fruits of your labor. I want you to trust that what God has given you is enough. I know it can be difficult to get past the battles in our minds but it is a battle that must be intentionally fought, so you can be all God has called you to be. So, here are some things you can speak back to those thoughts! It’s a strategy called “thought capturing” I personally use for myself and with my clients. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to make some of your own:
What if I fail? God is within me, I will not fail -Psalm 46:5
I don’t have enough money for it to look how I want: It’s not about me. It’s about what God wants to do through me and with Him, I have all that I need. -Psalm 16:9
I don’t have enough followers: God will turn from the 99 to go back for the one so, I will be consistent in posting for that ONE as well. -Matthew 18:11-14
So many people doubt me, I don’t think I can do it: God has the final say. He approved me to be in this position despite who felt the opposite. Therefore, I will walk and talk like I belong here. -Psalm 75:7
You got this sis, be encouraged!!
